Ex-Abia PDP Chair, Nwaka Quits Party, Gives Reasons

Date:

Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abia State chapter, Senator Emma Nwaka, has announced his resignation from the party.

This was contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman of Ward 5, Oguduasa, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Chief Innocent Nwagba.

According to the letter dated June 12, but made public on Thursday, August 29, the Second Republic senator said his exit was based on personal reasons.

In the letter titled “Time for me to quit”, the former PDP chairman noted that PDP thrived under his watch and thanked all those who supported him to succeed.

It reads in part: ”I hereby convey to you my decision to quit my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with effect from June 12, 2024.

“The decision for my exit was not taken whimsically. I chose this path after very deep consideration and reflections on the trajectory of my political life. The time has come for me to chart a new course. I thank my family, close friends and political allies for supporting my decision in this regard.

”I am grateful for the honour of piloting the affairs of the Abia State chapter of the party for five years. I am really happy I served without a whiff of any scandal, instead the period under my watch brought to the party, uncommon stability, peace and winning streak. The party won two governorship elections back to back, controlled the House of Assembly and won all the seats in the National Assembly in two general elections.

”I thank you immensely for galvanising home support for me all through my membership of the party.”

On his next political destination, Senator Nwaka, who was among the founding members of PDP,  said it is not in his nature to be jumping from one party to another, adding that if it becomes expedient, he would not hesitate to make same public.
