Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has formally presented Jamilu Gwamna, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election in Gombe State, to Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The presentation followed Gwamna’s emergence as the APC flagbearer after what party officials described as a decisive victory in the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 polls.
During the meeting, President Tinubu congratulated Gwamna on securing the party’s ticket and commended Governor Yahaya for his leadership and efforts in strengthening the APC’s structure in Gombe State.
According to a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, the President expressed confidence in the APC’s continued leadership in the state and its capacity to sustain ongoing development initiatives.
The statement quoted Tinubu as expressing optimism that the party would continue to build on its achievements while maintaining the political stability that has characterised Gombe State in recent years.
The President also praised Governor Yahaya’s governance style and his commitment to consolidating the APC’s political structures across the state.
Speaking during the presentation, Yahaya commended Tinubu’s leadership, describing it as purposeful and beneficial to national unity, political cohesion and progressive governance.
He also expressed appreciation for the Federal Government’s support to Gombe State, particularly in infrastructure development, economic growth and policies designed to encourage sustainable development.
According to the governor, the introduction of Gwamna to the President symbolises the APC’s commitment to continuity, party unity and the preservation of the gains recorded under the party’s administration in the state.
“Presenting Dr. Jamilu Gwamna to Mr. President is not only symbolic of party unity and continuity, but also a demonstration of the APC’s preparedness to consolidate on the gains recorded in Gombe State over the years,” Yahaya said.
Political observers view the formal presentation as an important step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election, as the ruling party seeks to retain control of Gombe State after Governor Yahaya completes his tenure.
