The Ogun State Police Command has begun a full-scale investigation into the deaths of a retired Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, who were reportedly shot and killed by unknown gunmen in Abeokuta.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident was first reported at the Owode Egba Division on Sunday by a resident of Iyana Agodo village, who raised concerns over suspicious activity at the deceased’s residence.

Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where preliminary findings suggested signs of forced entry and disturbance. During a detailed search of the premises, officers discovered the body of the security guard at his post, while the remains of Ms Oyesiku were later found inside her apartment. Her vehicle was also reported missing from the property.

The police confirmed that Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a thorough investigation into the killings, with a directive to identify and apprehend those responsible.

“The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. An intensive investigation is ongoing to unravel the facts, track down, and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act,” the statement said.

The command also noted that surveillance and intelligence-led operations have been intensified across relevant locations as part of efforts to track the suspects.

While commiserating with the families of the deceased, the Ogun State Television (OGTV) family, and members of the media community, the police assured the public that justice would be pursued without delay.

Residents were urged to remain calm, vigilant, and to provide any useful information that could assist ongoing investigations.
