APC Primary: Zailani Campaign Council Rejects Kaduna Central Ballot

By Lois Sambo

The Campaign Council of Mallam Yusuf Zailani, a Kaduna Central senatorial aspirant, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives , APC, senatorial primary election in the zone.

Speaking to journalists in Kaduna on Tuesday, the Deputy Director-General of the campaign council, Mr Cafra Caino, insisted that no valid primary election had taken place across the senatorial district.

Mr Caino alleged that the process was deeply flawed, lacked transparency, and failed to meet the standards set by the APC National Working Committee, NWC.

He claimed that party members across the seven local government areas in the senatorial zone waited for hours at designated venues without any sign of election officials or materials.

“Party faithful attended various ward and party offices for the exercise,” Mr Caino said. “After several hours of waiting in vain, no election materials were in sight.”

He maintained that the purported primary failed to reflect the will of APC members in the Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

Consequently, the Right Honourable Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani Campaign Council has unequivocally rejected the declared result.

“We do not recognise the outcome as a true reflection of the will of APC members in the zone,” Mr Caino added, emphasizing that the process fell short of acceptable standards.

The council has urged the APC NWC and the state electoral committee to investigate the conduct of the exercise and order a fresh ballot. It also called on supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding while redress is sought through internal party mechanisms.

Despite the dispute, the council commended its supporters for an overwhelming turnout and remarkable solidarity across the Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Chikun, and Kajuru Local Government Areas. It noted that the strong turnout reaffirmed the momentum of their movement.

The APC had not yet officially responded to the allegations at the time of reporting.
