Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni said the state recorded 100 percent budget implementation from 2021 to 2025.
Buni stated this yesterday when a delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, who were on the 2026 Nationwide Data Verification Exercise, paid him a courtesy visit in Damaturu.
The governor, represented by thez Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Gana, said the feat was achieved through transparency and accountability in management of the state‘s finances.
“The guiding principle of the state’s expenditure is the strict compliance to annual budget as required by the law,” he said.
According to him, the bulk of the funds used to implement the budget are realised from Federal Allocations, Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, loans and grants.
Buni said the state and local government councils earlier submitted data to the RMAFC on public primary and secondary schools enrollment, hospital facilities procured and IGR from January 2021 to December 2025.
He noted that the commission is well-positioned to assist in the economic rejuvenation drive of the country.
He promised to support the delegation to perform its duties including verification of the data which the state and local government councils earlier submitted to the commission.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and RMAFC Federal Commissioner representing Sokoto, Alhaji Bello Wamako said the team visited the state to verify and update the data to be used in reviewing revenue allocation among state and local government areas.
He said Paragraph 32(b) of Part 1 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria empowered the commission to continuously review revenue allocation formula to reflect changing realities.
“Revenue allocation system in Nigeria is built on a set of proxies and indices that seek to ensure fairness, equity and justice in sharing national resources.
“Overtime, however, socio-economic realities evolve, where population dynamics change, infrastructure expands, development gap shifts and new challenges emerge.
“The ongoing review of the revenue llocation formula has become necessary to validate the integrity and accuracy of the data that will ultimately inform the distribution of revenue across the federation,” Wamako said.
The team leader solicited the support of the state in providing access to relevant data and records, facilitating movement to the hinterlands and ensuring conducive environment, among others. (NAN)
