NECO Set For National Common Entrance Examination

FROM IKHILI EBALU,  BENIN CITY

National Examination Council, NECO, said yesterday that it is fully set for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination and the National Gifted Examination.

Its Edo State Coordinator, Mrs Joyce Ominiabohs disclosed this in Benin during a public sensitisation programme organised by officials of the council.

Speaking to newsmen at the event, the Head of Public Relations and Information, Obadigie Idahosa, who represented the state coordinator, said the purpose of the public sensitisation for the examinations slated for May 23 and June 6, respectively, was to enlighten them that school children going for unity colleges should be final year pupils of primary schools who should not be less than 10 years by September and those going for the National Gifted Examination should not be less than 11 years by September.

‘The amount payable for both examinations is N5,940 per candidate and the registration is strictly online, but parents who are not able to register their children on their own can visit the Benin office where there are accredited cyber operators around the office who can assist them.

“Parents who want quality education for their children in any of the unity colleges in Nigeria should take advantage of this examination to gain access,” Ominiabohs noted.
