National Organizing Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Prince, Bar, Chinedu Idigo has condemned the alleged suppression and manipulations of voters by the All Progressive Congress, APC, at the just concluded Federal Capital Territory, FCT, area council elections , saying that such irregularities would be vehemently resisted by the ADC, if it’s been repeated in the 2027 general election.
Speaking to journalists at the party’s headquarters at the weekend in Abuja , the ADC Chieftain criticized the ruling party , the All Progressive Congress, APC, and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, for criminalizing elections. .
Prince Idigo, who said that the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has learnt its lessons from the just concluded FCT , Council elections , disclosed that the party has put machinery in place to checkmate such ugly occurrences as the party is now more concerned and focused on how to protect it’s votes in 2027 general election.
He said “. In the last FCT Council Election, we have learnt they are still criminalizing elections, they are still grabbing and snatching ballot boxes, cancelling and rewriting results , but let me tell you , they should not try it on the 2027 presidential election, but if they do , they will be resisted . Nigerians are prepared to resist any form of criminalizing elections by the party in power”
Speaking on the ongoing membership Revalidation and Registration exercise across the states, the Organizing Secretary said that the exercise is well received by Nigerians who according to him are registering in their numbers , expressing gratitude to Nigerians for accepting the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as the party to rescue the country from the maladmistration of the APC led Bola Tinubu government.
” The registration exercise is going on well , I don’t want to release figures until the National Publicity Secretary, NPS, does that , I can assure you that Nigerians are registering massively, we are not forcing anybody or paying anybody to register for ADC , the Jeenzees are registering people, I am assurring you at the end of the exercise, we will have a massive numbers. The initial challenge we had was verification of National Indentity Number , NIN, and the other was the phone number and they were fixed, now you cannot use a fake name to register”
Prince Idigo hinted that the party despite it’s protest against the electoral law might adopt the direct mode or Consensus as their method for conducting it’s primaries ahead of the 2027 election , having been assented to in the 2026: electoral law.
” We will be limited to two methods , the direct primary and consensus, despite our protest , if it is not amended, we will go by direct or Consensus arrangement, that is the two choices we have, any one that the party decides , we will go for it”
