Anambra State Police Command has advised individuals and organisations planning to distribute palliatives during the yuletide to formally notify relevant security agencies ahead of time.
The command in a statement through its spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in collaboration with other security agencies, appealed to the general public, particularly individuals, groups, political organisations, religious bodies and non-governmental organisations that intend to distribute palliatives during the Christmas and New Year celebrations to inform the appropriate security authorities in advance.
According to the statement, this proactive measure would help in adequate security planning and deployment, ensuring orderliness at distribution points, safeguarding lives and property, managing crowd control and preventing potential security breaches or other untoward incidents that may arise during such activities.
Ikenga said early notification would allow security agencies provide the necessary support, including traffic control, intelligence monitoring and rapid response in case of emergencies, thereby guaranteeing the safety of both organisers and beneficiaries.
The command, therefore, called for the cooperation and understanding of all stakeholders to help maintain peace, law, and order, and to ensure a safe and secure Yuletide across Anambra State.
