The All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a major boost as former Kogi State governor, Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada, formally returned to the party, drawing commendation from former Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu.
Aliyu, in a statement on Monday, described the ex-Governor’s comeback as a strategic moment for both the party and the state, noting that it further strengthens the APC’s internal cohesion.
She emphasised that the timing of his defection aligns with renewed efforts to consolidate political stability in Kogi and across Nigeria.
Party insiders say Wada’s move is expected to reshape political calculations within the state, particularly with several high-level stakeholders rallying around a unified bloc.
Aliyu said, “I warmly welcome Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada into the All Progressives Congress as he officially returned home to our great party. His decision is a clear affirmation of the progressive values and renewed direction the APC represents at this critical moment in our nation’s politics.
“Capt. Wada’s depth of experience, discipline, and dedication to public service will undoubtedly enrich the APC family in Kogi and beyond. His voice and vision add strength to our shared mission of building a more inclusive and forward-driven political environment.”
Wada’s defection is expected to accelerate wider political realignments as the APC intensifies grassroots consolidation across the state.
