Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Niger State, Salome Fatima Ndakotsu, has vowed that the newly constituted PDP officials in the state has all it takes to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, both at the state and federal levels.
Mrs. Salome Ndakotsu, who stated this in Minna in an interview with AljazirahNigeria, said with the calibre of the newly constituted executive members of the party, PDP will bounce back to take over the leadership of the state and the country by 2027.
According to the Woman Leader, the difference is very clear since the ruling party, the APC comes on board to pilot the affairs of the country, adding that Nigerians should compare and contrast how the APC leadership has fared since 2015 to date.
“I urged all Nigerians to build confidence that the PDP has the capacity to unseat the current ruling party in the 2027 general elections,by being courageous”, saying “enough is enough on the hardships faced by Nigerians”.
She said she was optimistic that PDP, with its track record in Niger State and the renewed efforts of new party executives, is regaining its strength to reclaim power not only in the state but across the country.
According to her, good strategies have been put in place and will gradually unfold as the political landscape takes shape”, adding that the party will engage on the mobilisation of women groups in the state through creation of awareness at the grassroots.
She acknowledged the importance of women at the grassroots and the power of their votes by sensitising them to know their rights, particularly on the importance of the ballot paper.
The politician also called for more seats and positions for women in every sphere of governance, stressing that such measures would encourage more women to participate actively and contest for elective positions.
Mrs. Salome, who served as commissioner of Lands, Housing and Environment under former governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu, was also Chairperson of the defunct Kintako local government during governor Abdulkadir Kure’s administration, ventured into politics around 1996/97 and contested and won a State house of Assembly seat.
Although the House was never inaugurated, she later became the first State Treasurer of the PDP caretaker committee, which led the party to victory in the 1999 elections.
