Former Vice President and one of the 2023 presidential candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has assured that he will support whoever emerges winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary in 2026.
Atiku gave the assurance while addressing members of the ADC during a welcome ceremony for new defectors into the coalition party in Lagos State on Saturday.
He stressed that it would not matter whether he secures the party’s ticket or not, noting that unity of purpose is paramount for the party’s success.
The event saw top members of the ADC and Labour Party (LP) join the ADC. They were received by the National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, Senator Kolawole Ogunwale, and the Lagos State ADC Chairman, Mr. George Ashiru.
Atiku, who was represented by Prof. Ola Olateju, served as the guest speaker at the occasion.
Responding to questions on who would emerge as the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku maintained that only the ADC would determine that.
“It is not a thing we can predetermine. Whoever emerges through free and fair contests, we are all going to support,” Atiku said.
