Nasarawa State House of Assembly has assured teachers of the recovery of their money from the former Chairman of Teachers Service Commission, TSC, Mohammed Gada and others involved in alleged employment scandal.
Chairman of the ad-hoc committee investigating the recent employment of more than 3,000 teachers, Mr Daniel Ogazi gave the assurance when the affected teachers appeared before the committee in Lafia.
Sympathising with the victims, Ogazi assured them of the Assembly’s commitment to ensure that justice is done on the matter.
“We invited you to tell us what you know, tell us who gave you the appointment and how much paid to get the job.
“Be sincere as you are speaking on oath. We want to assure you that justice will be served at the end of the day,” he said.
Ogazi urged the former chairman of TSC to re-appear before the committee on Wednesday by 10am, in order to clear his name based on the submissions by some of the victims.
“We are directing the commissioner for education to bring Michael Jonyi of Area Inspectorate Office, Doma Local Government Area and other staff of the ministry involved in the scandal on Wednesday to clear themselves.
“We will write to the commissioner of police and commandant of NSCDC to bring their officers involved in the scandal on Wednesday this week by 10am,” he added.
An evaluation officer in the Ministry of Education, Mr Yamush Amos confirmed that he was an agent of the former TSC chairman that sold appointment letters to applicants.
He tendered bank tellers to buttress his submissions.
Mr Adigizi Abaya, also an agent to the former TSC chairman, disclosed that he paid N14 million for 28 applicants into his account without getting appointment letters.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, some of the victims, particularly Sanke Priscilla and Ibrahim Abdulkadir, confessed that they paid between N500,000 and N1.7million for the appointments.
They pleaded with the House to help them recover their money.
