FROM IKHILI EBALU, BENIN CITY
Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has launched a‘Rural Electrification Programme’ designed to break the cycle of neglect on infrastructure and power deprivation in rural and semi-urban communities.
This initiative is to light up communities, revitalise local economies and reshape the narrative of development across the state.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Fred Itua stated that the programme, handled by the Edo State Electrification Agency, ESEA, represents a critical component of Okpebholo’s commitment to restore dignity to rural communities to tame rural-urban migration and stimulate economic development at the grassroots.
AljazirahNigeria recalls that the Edo State Electricity Law was recently signed by Governor Okpebholo, which deregulated the electricity sector and provided a legal framework for private sector participation, investment and localised energy solutions.
