Alia To Renovate IBB Square, Construct Befitting Palaces For Six First And Second Class Chiefs

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has promised to rehabilitate the IBB square Makurdi, to international standard considering its importance to people of the state.

Alia who announced his decision during his on going thank you tour to the people of Makurdi/Guma federal constituency, held at the popular IBB square, said his administration is committed to improving infrastructure in the state.

The governor also assured that after completion of the under pass, under construction at High- Level Makurdi, Government would consider other major roads within Makurdi and Guma, revealing that his administration intend to construct more roads to open up rural communities for the benefit of people and suede for unity of purpose among prominent sons and daughters of the area to enable government deliver dividends of democracy to Benue people.

Alia there after addressed tradional rulers of Makurdi/Guma at the private resident of Tor Lobi, HRH, Moses Anageende and promised to construct befitting palaces for all the six first class and second class chiefs in the state, assuring them of his administrations resolve to improve on welfare of the traditional rulers.

He urged them to support his administration to restore the lost glory of the traditional institution in the state, as well as charged them to remain supportive of government efforts towards restoring peace in their various communities and uphold truth, assuring them of no interference on the side of government.

At Aliade, where he addressed tradional rulers and the people of Gwer-East and Gwer West federal constituency, he promised to install street lights on strategic places in Aliade town, revive Taraku Mills and construct Ikpayongo- Aondoana road among others.

Responding separately Tor Lobi, HRH,Moses Anageende and Tor Gwer, HRH, Julius Aondoana, all commended the governor for his giant strides within one year in office and expressed optimism that the governor will do more in the remaining years.

Ter Gwer, HRH, Dominic Akpe, in a remark appealed that government expedite action to help restore permanent peace in the land dispute between Mbavuur and Mbasombo communities which has destroyed millions of naira worth of property and wasted many lives.

He equally appealed to the governor to ensure that his subjects whose farms and homes have been affected as a result of construction work on the Makurdi- Otukpo- 9th Mile road are compensated to alleviate their hardship.

Acting Chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC Benue State chapter, Benjamin Omakolo, who received over 2000 decampees from the PDP and other parties into the APC, assured them of equal opportunities and thanked the new entrants for taking bold steps.

In their separate remarks, Commissioner for education and knowledge management, Fredrick Ikyaan for Gwer West and member House of Assembly for Gwer-East, Elias Audu, all assured Governor Alia of the people’s support, especially that he has changed the perception of the masses about politics, adding that with what the governor has done just within one year in terms of achievements, Gwer-East/Gwer West people have began to trust the governor and other crop of politicians serving under him.
