Nasarawa State House of Assembly has promised to initiate bills and enact laws that would have a direct bearing in the lives of the citizens of the state.
Speaker of the Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, made the promise during a mini reception organised by members of the Assembly in his honour, on Monday in Lafia.
The News Agency of Nigeria ,NAN, reports that the reception was organised to celebrate the speaker over the completion of his PhD programme.
Jatau, who thanked his colleagues for the support they had accorded him since he became their leader, urged them to do more in order to stabilise legislative business in the state.
The Speaker described the 7th Assembly as the best in the history of the state, adding that the unity exhibited by his colleagues in spite of party differences had been unique.
” I want to use this opportunity to thank all of you for the support you have giving me since I became the Speaker.
” I have been enjoying your support which has enable us to succeed in passing resolutions and initiate bills that have direct bearing on the lives of our people.
” I want us to also support Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed; this will enable our people to enjoy more dividends of democracy” he said.
Jatau, who was visibly elated over the honour, appreciated God for seeing him through his PhD programme.
The Speaker also called on his colleagues to initiate bills and motions that would promote good governance across the state.
Jatau further thanked all his colleagues, particularly, Dr Hajarat Danyaro ,APC-Nasarawa Central, for organising the reception in his honour.
