…As 5 hockey teams depart for Egypt

Five Hockey Clubs in Nigeria left the shore of the country for Cairo yesterday as teams are set to take part at the Africa Cup for Club Champions ACCC in Egypt.
Two Male teams, Kada Stars, Niger Flickers and 3 Female teams Plateau Queen, Kaduna Queen and Delta Queen will be raising the flag of Nigeria high as from Thursday in Egypt.
However, the players, their coaches and have expressed their determination to return home with Gold.
The Africa Cup for Club Champions ,ACCC, is a men’s and women’s field Hockey competition for clubs in Africa.It was first played for in 1988.
While charging the trievving teams yesterday inside Moshood Abiola National Stadium, the President of Nigeria Hockey Federation expressed optimism on national teams outstanding performance in the upcoming Africa club championship 2025 Africa Cup for Club championship ,ACCC, in Egypt.
According to the President, majority of the national team players have participated in top-level tournaments adding he has assurance that they will represent Nigeria well.
Meanwhile, Kada Queen and Kada stars will represent Nigeria in the championship in Egypt.
He said the team is comprised with highly experienced players that had played against
powerhouse teams from the Netherlands, Malaysia, and other prominent hockey nations.
‘These set of players on the teams are exposed with international events and I have no doubt that they will represent Nigeria well.
They are highly experienced players used to play on artificial turfs, both locally and internationally
“I urges them to be serious in their games , with dedication and determination to all their games the will return home with gold medal this want we want from them”, he said.
The President said there will be zero tolerance for mistakes during the competition.
The President also expressed gratitude to participating teams and their governors.
“I commend the teams participating in the ongoing hockey tournament which include Delta, Plateau, Niger, and Kada Stars.
“In spite this difficult time , these governors have these players the opportunities to go and represent their state and the country.
“Thee governors of the participating states have approved significant funds to support their teams participation in the competition.
“I specifically thanked the governors of Plateau, Delta, Niger, and Kaduna states for their support”, he said
The President also emphasized the need for private sector support
Kada Stars of Kaduna and Niger Flickers of Jos in the men’s category
Reports have it that the championship is expected to commence from Jan. 30 to Feb.7 in Cairo , Egypt
