Obaseki Attributes Partnership With Security Agencies To Administration’s Successes

FROM IKHILI EBALU, BENIN CITY

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki has attributed the progress witnessed across various sectors of the state’s economy to his administration’s ability to maintain peace, law and order in collaboration with federal security agencies and the state-owned security outfits.

Obaseki stated this while receiving the Chief of Air Staff, CAS, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, and other top security officials who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City.

The governor, who restated the need for peace and security, said his government would continue to partner security agencies, support them to effectively deliver on their role of ensuring peace and order, and protect the lives and property of the citizenry.

“The state has witnessed remarkable improvement in the last eight years and the underlying factor is our ability to have law and order in the state. This is as a result of the peaceful collaboration with sister agencies.

“Collaboration between federal security agencies and our own agencies is seamless and responsible for the huge success recorded, as it has helped us to maintain calm and peaceful atmosphere,” the governor said.

He added that available data showed that cultism is the biggest security challenge in the state. Obaseki, however, commended the House of Assembly for coming up with a law prohibiting cultism and a task force to address the menace.

In his response, Air Marshal Abubakar commended Governor Obaseki for his developmental strides across the state, noting that having served in Edo in the past, he is impressed with its transformation.
