Team Nigeria continued its impressive performance at the inaugural African School Games in Algeria as Godwin Osaretin Grace captured gold in the women’s cycling road race on Friday, marking another major milestone for the country in the continental competition.
Grace delivered a spectacular performance, clocking a time of 1:37:02 to edge out Algeria’s home favorite, Chemouni Saoussan, who crossed the finish line just four seconds later at 1:37:06. The thrilling sprint to the finish kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
This victory adds to Nigeria’s growing medal tally and highlights the talent, resilience, and competitive spirit of the nation’s young athletes on the African stage.
As of Friday morning, August 1, Team Nigeria has secured a total of 11 medals, comprising:
- 🥇 3 Gold
- 🥈 4 Silver
- 🥉 4 Bronze
