UDUS Host Maiden International Media Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Other

Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Bashir Garba, MFR, will host its first-ever International Media Conference from June 7 to 10, 2026, at the university campus in Sokoto.

The landmark event comes five years after the establishment and accreditation of the Department of Mass Communication and is expected to attract leading media scholars, researchers, and communication professionals from across the globe.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Daniadi B., OON, he described the conference as a major academic milestone.

According to the statement, the conference, themed “Media and National Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” seeks to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies, particularly for developing nations striving to remain competitive in the digital age.

“The keynote address will be delivered by renowned double Fulbright Scholar, Professor Kehbuma Langmia of Howard University, Washington, D.C., while Professor Fatma El-Sayed of Cairo University will present the pre-conference lecture.

“The four-day gathering will feature technical sessions, paper presentations, and scholarly engagements chaired by distinguished academics, including Professor Umar Pate and Professor Mukhtar Umar Bunza. Lead presentations will be delivered by Dr. Ola Ifatimehin of Bayero University Kano and Dr. Sam Unwana Akpan of the University of Lagos.”

Also, the Head of the Mass Communication Department, Dr. Jibril Gwandu, assured participants of a memorable and world-class event, reaffirming the university’s readiness to host an international conference befitting its reputation.
