Opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has again lost three of its members to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the green chamber.

The lawmakers, who defected to the ruling APC are Hon. Inuwa Garba representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State; Hon Hon. Abdullahi El-Rasheed, representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State, and Hon.Muhammed Audu representing Karim Lamido/Lau/ Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency of Taraba State.

Other lawmakers include Hon.Adewale Adebayo, representing Olorunda/Osogbo/ Irepodun/Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State, who joined the Accord, as well as Hon.Joshua Chinedu Obika representing Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, and Bwari in the Federal Constituency, who defected to the APC from the Labour Party, LP.

The defectors  message was conveyed to lawmakers in the Green Chamber in separate letters read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Hon.Tajudeen Abbas yesterday, on the floor of the House, in Abuja

Whereas the erstwhile PDP former members cited irreconcilable division in their former party and inability of the leaders of the party to bring the warring factions to the negotiation table, their colleague elected on the banner of the Labour Party claimed their defection was due to inability of the party to successfully field-in a candidate for the last Area Council election in the nation’s capital, FCT.

Some of the defected  lawmakers also alleged that their decision was followed by prior extensive consultation with their constituents who supported and voted for them during their last political outing.

Speaking shortly after their different letters were read at the Chamber, the Speaker welcomed the defected lawmakers into the ruling APC, while expressing optimism that their decision to join the party would enhance their contributions to legislative duties in the parliament.

Meanwhile, some opposition lawmakers who observed the defection noted that their seats were vacant.

It would be recalled that some governors elected on the platform of the PDP have also recently defected to the APC, citing the same position as the defected lawmakers.
