Senate yesterday invoked Section 157 (1) to officially remove Yakubu Umar as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, over allegations of misconduct.
Umar’s removal gives way for the official resumption of Abdullahi Bello as the substantive chairman of the tribunal.
A motion for the removal of the CCT chairman was signed by 84 senators who constituted two-third majority of the Senate.
The Senate’s resolution favouring Umar’s removal is to be forwarded to President Bola Tinubu for further action.
