National Youth Leader of the Social Democratic Party SDP, Dr Uchechukwu Chukwuma has dismissed his purported suspension by the National Secretary, Dr Olu Agunloye and National Publicity Secretary, Rufus Ayienigba , urging Nigerians to disregard such illegal action .
Speaking to journalists yesterday in Abuja , Dr. Chukwuma described the purported suspension as baseless , unfounded and joke taken too far.
The youth leader who disclosed that he has been functioning from his office at the party headquarters, Abuja said the National Secretary and National Publicity Secretary lacks such powers to unilaterally suspend him from office .
Dr. Chukwuma described the duo of National Secretary Olu Agunloye and National Publicity Secretary Rufus Ayienigba as those who are in a mission to destroy the party ahead of the 2027 general election..
He said, ” Very funny , you cannot suspend me from inside your room or toilet , we have only one NWC led by Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, the NWC was scheduled to meet in the afternoon of that day ,but, before that time in the morning they released a fake document alleging our suspension, so where did they meet and got their powers to suspend me , how many are they, who presided over the meeting, because it is only the National Chairman that preside NWC meetings in line with the party’s constitution, the National Secretary and National Publicity Secretary have no powers to suspend me, so it is fake news”.
He denied the allegation of misappropriation and embezzlement levied against him , adding that the party’s account has been audited twice by external auditors appointed by INEC.
” I am not the National treasurer of the party , the National Secretary is not the accounting officer of the party . This is how it works , you raise a request or a memo and the National Chairman approved for the treasurer to pay . The party account has been audited twice and certified by the regulatory body , INEC, so where did he got his facts”
Chukwuma accused the National Secretary of diverting the party’s funds to his private account and ethnicize the party.
” The person alleging misappropriation has been diverting party funds to his personal account. Why should he bring ethnicity in the SDP, because we refused to work with him to destabilize the party , he decided to single me and the National auditor out to tarnish our image”.
