In his bid towards sustainable mobility, the Director General of the Youth in Parliament Forum, YIPF, Tony Nwulu has pledged to train over 2,000 Nigerian youths for free on electric vehicle, EV, maintenance and manufacturing.

Nwulu disclosed this while unveiling his programme for Youths in Abuja yesterday.

According to him, his firm in partnership with CAWIN Mobility Limited are aims to equip young Nigerians with critical technical skills necessary for equipping the future of green transportation.

He, therefore described the initiative as a “historic milestone” in Nigeria that will adequately position Nigerian youths at the forefront of the global shift to renewable energy.

He, however explained that the training which is set to begin on the 20th of this month, will target over 1,000 engineering students as well as 1,000 mechanics across the country.

According to him, the project will ensures that Nigeria is not left behind as electric vehicles is gradually penetrate and taking over the Nigerian local markets.

He explained further: “Electric vehicles will need skilled technicians for after-sales support,”

“Through this programme, we are preparing Nigerian youths to fill that gap.

The training is open and completely free participants won’t pay a dime kobo.”

He also emphasized the need for a follow up initiatives which includes the Lawmakers Car Acquisition Scheme, LCAS,, maintaining that such project when in operation would give federal lawmakers more access to affordable electric and conventional vehicles with after sales supports.

Also speaking at the event was the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Youth in Parliament,Hon Olamijuwonlo Alao Akala.

He used the opportunity to emphasize the urgency of preparing Nigeria’s workforce for the coming electric era adding “The future is electric, and Nigeria cannot afford to lag behind,”

He further commended CAWIN Mobility for bringing its expertise into Nigeria markets noting that the planed free programme for young Nigerians is an “historic opportunity for mass empowerment.”

In his address, the Managing Director of CAWIN Mobility, Wayne Ji, informed that the partnership would provide Nigeria with a complete EV ecosystem, from training technicians to establishing charging infrastructure across the country.

He explained further: “Nigeria’s youth are its greatest asset,”

“This programme is not just about cars, rather its about jobs opportunities, cleaner cities as well as a diversified economy.

These 2,000 young Nigerians will form the backbone of Nigeria’s EV workforce and Asset. He maintained.
