Yobe State Police Command has arrested 303 suspects in connection with drug abuse, hoarding and peddling, following a joint security operation.

The command’s spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, who disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Damaturu, said the coordinated raids on black spots and criminal hideouts across the state were part of efforts to curb the rising tide of drug-related crimes and violence.

“Three alleged drug barons are currently undergoing discreet investigation by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,” the spokesman added.

Abdulkarim said drug abuse remains the driving force behind criminality, contributing to addiction, mental health issues, broken social ties and diminished life opportunities.

He urged the public to remain vigilant, support anti-drug campaigns and report all suspicious activities to relevant authorities.

“The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combat drug abuse and trafficking through enforcement, awareness campaigns and collaboration with stakeholders,” he said.

Abdulkarim encouraged residents to contact the Police Public Relations Unit via 08062722848 to report drug-related activities or obtain more information.
