Plateau Assembly Urges 3 MDAs To Present Budget  Details

Plateau  House of Assembly on Tuesday directed three Ministries, Departments and Agencies ,MDAs,  to return with complete 2025 budget details after failing to provide required documents during their defence.

The affected MDAs, which appeared before the  various House Committees , were directed to return with complete details of their 2025 budget proposals, including expenditure breakdowns and performance reports for the previous fiscal year.

The Chairman of the Committee  on Public Accounts and Petitions, Mr Kwarpo Sylvanus , APC/ Mangu South, said that the Office of the Local Government Auditor  General, failed to submit a comprehensive report.

“The Statutory role of the office of the Local Government Auditor General, is to audit the Local Governments and the MDAs that the Local Government disburses funds to.

“The committee, has asked  the office of the  local government auditor general  to submit some relevant documents that will assist the committee”, he said.

He stressed that thorough scrutiny was necessary to ensure transparency, fiscal discipline, and alignment with the state’s development priorities.

Similarly, Chairman of the Committee on Youths and Sports, Mr Isaac   Dalyop,  APC/ Jos South, dismissed the  ministry of Youths and Sports as the  Commission of Youths and Sports , Mr Musa Ashoms, was not present for the defence.

Dalyop, also turned back the management of Mighty Jets International Football Club, for having incomplete documents as regards the club’s Internally Generated Revenue ,IGR.

The lawmakers noted that several MDAs had shown inadequate preparation, prompting the committee to enforce stricter standards during the defence  process.

The News Agency of Nigeria ,NAN, reports that the dismissed agencies are expected to reappear before the committee later this week after addressing the identified gaps.
