Members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the factional Peoples Democratic Party led by Adolphus Wabara, alongside members of the interim National Working Committee (NWC) headed by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, are currently holding a closed-door meeting with Seyi Makinde at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.

Sources familiar with the development disclosed that the meeting may be connected to growing reports linking Governor Makinde to a possible presidential ambition on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the sources, discussions during the meeting may also include recent security concerns following reported bandit attacks in Ibadan that occurred days after the governor’s alleged presidential declaration.

“The meeting may not be unconnected with recent reports linking Governor Makinde to a presidential ambition on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement, while discussions are also believed to touch on the recent bandit attacks in Ibadan,” a source familiar with the situation said.

As of the time this report was filed, details of the meeting remained unclear, with deliberations still ongoing behind closed doors.

Political observers believe the meeting could have significant implications for ongoing political realignments within the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections, especially amid reports of internal disagreements and factional developments within the PDP.

Governor Makinde has remained one of the prominent opposition figures frequently mentioned in conversations surrounding future presidential contests, although there has been no official confirmation from him regarding any presidential ambition on the platform of the APM.

The meeting also comes at a time when concerns over insecurity and attacks in parts of Oyo State continue to attract public attention, particularly following recent incidents reportedly linked to armed criminal groups.

Analysts say the gathering of key PDP stakeholders in Ibadan may signal consultations aimed at resolving internal political issues and clarifying the governor’s political direction ahead of the next election cycle.
