Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice in Ondo State, Dr Kayode Ajulo (SAN), has warned land grabbers in the state, emphasising government’s determination to eradicate the unlawful activity.
Ajulo, in a statement, revealed that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, by Executive Order 4-2024, kick-started the war against land-grabbers.
According to the commissioner, the state will commission a task force to tackle illegal occupation of property and allied land disputes and irregularities.
He warned offenders to resolve their illegal dealings or face severe legal consequences.
Ajulo made it clear that only legally constituted authorities have the right to adjudicate land matters in the state.
“Those unlawfully acquiring government lands, private property or fraudulently selling the same land to multiple buyers must rethink their actions immediately.
“Government is fully committed to enforcing the law and will take decisive action against violators.
“This is a scenario peculiar to some states, though I will prefer not to mention names, but we will not tolerate such illegal activities in Ondo anymore before it gets out of hand,” Ajulo warned.
He condemned organised groups that had turned land grabbing into a profession, saying such activities disrupt community harmony and undermine the state’s development.
Ajulo said government remained posed to severely dealing with them, using the instrumentality of the law.
“The administration of Aiyedatiwa will not tolerate any infringement on property rights.
He urged the affected individuals to come forward and rectify their situation within the stipulated period.
The attorney-general assured the public that government remains dedicated to restoring order and protecting legitimate property owners. (NAN)
