Student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, IBBU, Lapai Niger State has been stabbed to death by suspected armed robbers.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Wasiu Abiodun, the incident occurred on Monday when the suspects stormed the lodge around 2:30am at Ndakitabu area via Lapai opposite the main gate of the institution.
Findings revealed that the deceased simply identified as Jafar, a 300 level Education student, was stabbed on the neck. He was rushed to the General Hospital Lapai where he was later confirmed dead.
Abiodun added in a statement in Minna, that as a result of the attack, some students barricaded Agaie-Lapai road, protesting against the incident.
He disclosed that tactical teams of the command have been dispatched to Lapai to ensure that normalcy is restored, while investigation into the incident has commenced.Â
The spokesman noted that the commissioner of police has directed that the perpetrators of the heinous crime must be arrested and brought to book.
It was gathered that one of the suspected armed robbers who killed the only male child of his parents was also killed by vigilantes and community volunteers during the incident.
