The Korean government, through its grant aid and technical cooperation agency, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) has successfully funded and supported the training of 438 Nigerian government officials through the DevsinGov Program, launched on August 28, 2025.
Speaking at the launch, KOICA Nigeria Senior Deputy Country Director, Ki-Hyun Baik, stated: “Training government officials is a significant milestone in our partnership with Nigeria. We are proud to support the country’s efforts to build a modern, responsive, and inclusive digital government powered by local expertise.”
The program is a flagship activity under KOICA’s ongoing e-Government Capacity Building Project in Nigeria, aimed at strengthening the digital capacity of public institutions by equipping in-house developers and IT officers with the practical skills to build and manage digital public services.
The August DevsinGov training program focused on: Innovative Leadership and Capacity Building for the Digital Era, Strategies for IT Training in Digital Government Transformation, and Building Citizen-Centric Digital Public Infrastructure: Lessons from Korea’s MyData and Mobile Digital ID for Nigeria, ensuring that the government can develop and maintain citizen-friendly platforms internally and sustainably.
This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda and KOICA’s mission to promote sustainable development through capacity building, innovation, and partnership.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Rafiu Adeladan, Permanent Secretary of FMCIDE, represented by Mr. Johnson Bareyei, the Director of the eGovernment Department of FMCIDE, noted: “This program marks a critical step in our drive to build a digitally skilled public sector workforce. We appreciate KOICA’s partnership in equipping our personnel with the tools to design and deliver services that meet the needs of Nigerians in the digital age.”
In his remarks, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, MD/CEO of Galaxy Backbone said, “DevsinGov empowers our in-house developers to become agents of digital transformation within the civil service. It reflects our commitment to a future where government technology is driven by local talent and tailored to the realities of our people.”
