Kogi: CP Tasks Officers On Professionalism, Human Rights

Commissioner of Police in Kogi State,  Miller Dantawaye, has tasked officers and men of the force on discipline, professionalism and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.

Dantawaye gave the charge during a meeting with members of the Management Team, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and other senior officers in Lokoja, recently.

He reminded the senior officers of Inspector-General of Police’s, IGP, mandate for officers to conduct enforcement operations with integrity and professionalism, without exploiting the exercise for personal gain.

“Our primary objective as a law enforcement arm, is to protect public interest, ensure compliance with traffic laws and educate road users on their rights and responsibilities regarding vehicle insurance policies.

“Let me issue a stern warning  against unprofessional conduct, especially  harassment during third-party insurance enforcement.

“You should be sure that any reported abuse would attract severe disciplinary action,” he warned.

He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to foster  safe, just

and law-abiding society through ethical law enforcement practices.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the meeting also featured a lecture by the State Coordinator of Retail Insured Family, Mr Addi Abdulfatai,  an insurance company on the third-party insurance policy.

Abdulfatai commended the IGP for his efforts aimed at ensuring strict adherence to the third-party insurance policy. NAN
