Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested a 40- year old man, Yahaya Saleh over his attempt to bribe police investigators with the sum of One Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦1, 500,000) in his move of paving way for the release of a suspect currently under investigation on kidnapping related crime.
This is contained in a statement issued and made available to journalists by the Spokesperson, FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh in Abuja on Wednesday.
The statement disclosed that the arrest of the man was carried out when he approached officers of the Command Scorpion Squad who had been handling the ongoing investigation into kidnapping syndicate operating within FCT and it’s environ with the aforementioned amount of money as bribe for the unlawful release of one of the suspecteds being investigated.
” Demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice, the officers promptly declined the offer and initiated necessary legal procedures, leading to Saleh’s immediate arrest.
” While an investigation is ongoing to arrest other actors in the syndicate, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale commended the officers for their exemplary conduct and assured the public that the command remains resolute in its stance against corruption and interference with justice, ” according to the statement.
