The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise, bringing the examination phase of this year’s admission cycle to a close.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who confirmed that candidates who participated in the mop-up examination can now access their results through the Board’s approved result-checking platforms.
Benjamin stated that the publication of the results marks a significant milestone in the admission process and clears the way for the next stage of candidate placement into tertiary institutions.
According to him, JAMB will now proceed with the ranking of candidates, a crucial step in determining admission eligibility and placement into universities, polytechnics, and other higher institutions across the country.
“With the successful conduct of the mop-up exercise and the publication of the results, the Board will proceed with the ranking of candidates,” Benjamin said.
He further disclosed that the printing of result slips, which candidates will require for admission screening and processing, is expected to begin before the end of the week.
The Board also expressed appreciation to candidates, parents, schools, and other stakeholders for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the examination period.
The mop-up examination was conducted on June 13, 2026, to accommodate candidates who had been successfully verified during the main UTME but were unable to sit for the examination due to technical glitches, biometric verification challenges, or other disruptions at their designated centres.
The main 2026 UTME was held nationwide in April and recorded participation from more than two million candidates seeking admission into various tertiary institutions.
Following the release of the main examination results, JAMB retained the minimum admission benchmark at 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics. The Board also activated its portal for candidates wishing to make changes to their course of study or institution of choice.
With the release of the mop-up results, attention now shifts to admission processing activities, including candidate ranking, result slip generation, and institutional admission exercises.
