Iran has accused the United States of weakening ongoing international efforts to end the conflict after reports of additional US strikes on targets in southern Iran.
Speaking on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Washington’s actions were undermining diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis.
In a video message carried by Iranian media, Baqaei criticised what he described as inconsistent US policies, alleging that repeated military actions were damaging prospects for a peaceful resolution.
“Unfortunately, the United States is damaging this diplomatic process through the contradictory messages it sends, its repeated shifts in positions and demands, and, worst of all, through repeated violations of the ceasefire,” he said.
The spokesman further argued that diplomacy cannot succeed when military force continues to be employed alongside negotiations.“Any diplomatic process is damaged by the use of force and by resorting to unlawful actions on the ground,” Baqaei added.
The latest comments reflect growing tensions between Tehran and Washington amid ongoing international efforts to de-escalate hostilities and restore stability in the region.
Iran has consistently maintained that military actions by foreign powers complicate negotiations and reduce the chances of achieving a lasting settlement, while the United States has defended its actions as necessary for protecting its interests and responding to security threats.
The renewed exchange of accusations comes as diplomatic stakeholders continue efforts to preserve ceasefire arrangements and prevent a further escalation of the conflict.
