Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Joint Task Force for the North West neutralised a terrorist and destroyed a secret medical facility in a series of coordinated strikes against criminal networks between January 21 and 22.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Captain David Adewusi, and posted on the official X handle of the Nigerian Army on Thursday.
According to the statement, troops of 8 Division, Garrison Strike Force, working alongside the Department of State Services, DSS, conducted a fighting patrol in Sokoto State, where they killed one terrorist, as others fled with gunshot wounds.
“Troops of 8 Division, Garrison Strike Force and DSS assets on fighting patrol engaged terrorists in Gundumi Village, Isa Local Government Area.
“During the encounter, troops neutralised one of the terrorists, even as others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. They recovered six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles,” the statement partly reads.
In a separate operation, troops from 1 Brigade and the Headquarters of JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team reportedly targeted a hideout in Bingi Forest.
Acting on credible reports that injured terrorists are receiving clandestine treatment in the area, troops destroyed a makeshift medical facility.
The statement added, “Troops from 1 Brigade, alongside the Headquarters of JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team, swiftly acted on credible intel that injured terrorists were receiving treatment in Bingi Forest.
“The troops discovered and destroyed a makeshift medical facility of the terrorists, dealing a significant blow to their support system and showcasing troops effective operational response.”
In the statement, Captain Adewusi reiterated the “unwavering determination and responsiveness” of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to decisively degrade terrorist networks and restore peace and security across the North West.
On Thursday, troops of Operation Hadin Kai foiled a Boko haram ambush, neutralising ten terriorists including two of their senior commanders identified as Basulhu and Ubaida, along Sambisa and Mandara Mountains axis of Borno State.
