International Organisation for Migration, IOM, has appealed to Benue State Environmental Sanitation Authority, BENSESA, to assist in carrying out the evacuation of waste generated in Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs camps across the state.
Speaking during a visit to BENSESA, representatives of the organisation, Kachallah Ibrahim and Julliette De Gaultier named the IDP camps as Ukpam, Daudu, Gbajimba, Ortese, among others in the state.
Kachallah and Gaultier told BENSESA management that the organisation had intervened in IDP camps through the provision of shelters, water, sanitary facilities such as toilets, routine cleaning of immediate surroundings, attendance to their health needs among others.
He disclosed that at the moment, the organisation is overstretched in rendering these services, hence the need for collaboration with BENSESA in the area of waste evacuation to compliment its effort towards achieving total cleanliness across IDP camps in line with its mission and vision.
In response, the General Manager of BENSESA, Mrs Nashima Daniel thanked the IOM representatives for their laudable interventions in crisis and disaster affected areas, describing its action as a huge relief to states, especially Benue.
She promised BENSESA’s quick response to its request as soon as feasibility study is carried out by the authority’s Public Health Department.
