Gov Diri Dumps PDP, Joins APC in Grand Yenagoa Rally

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, on Monday formally crossed over to the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending months of speculation around his political future.

Diri, who recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was welcomed amid a massive crowd of supporters in Yenagoa.

Thousands of APC loyalists and Diri backers, clad in white T-shirts, flooded the state capital in celebration, dancing and drumming along major streets.

The governor’s defection ceremony drew high-profile political figures, including Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno; Delta State Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori; former Delta Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Ondo State Governor, Orimisan Aiyedatiwa; former Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole; and Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, among others.
