Gombe Gov Sacks 4 Aides Over Assault on Shamaki Councillor

Gombe State governor, Inuwa Yahaya has approved the immediate dismissal of four aides, following their alleged involvement in the physical assault of a serving councillor, Abdulrahman Sheriff, who represents Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.

The decision was communicated by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, after the submission of a report by a special committee constituted to investigate the incident.

According to a statement issued by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Isma’ila Misilli, the committee’s findings were corroborated by reports from security agencies, which established the involvement of the affected aides, prompting the governor’s decisive action.

Those disengaged from service are Adamu Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).

Governor Yahaya directed that the dismissals take immediate effect and ordered the affected officers to hand over all government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities without delay.

Reaffirming his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on violence, misconduct and abuse of office, the governor stressed that actions capable of threatening public peace or undermining public confidence in government would not be condoned.

He assured the people of Gombe State of his administration’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law, accountability and peaceful coexistence, adding that decisive measures would continue to be taken to safeguard public order and sustain the state’s hard-earned stability.
