Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Badagry Unit Command, yesterday deployed 150 personnel ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Unit Commander, Mr Yusuf Sanni, who hinted this to newsmen in Badagry, said the 150 personnel include 100 men and officers, and 50 special marshals.
According to the unit commander, the step is to prevent road accidents and ensure free flow of traffic during the period.
He noted that the personnel would be stationed at black spots and accident-prone areas, to ensure that motorists abide by traffic rules.
“At present, we have our officials at Agbara, where the ongoing road construction has resulted in gridlock, especially during peak hours, so we will be there to ensure movement of vehicles.
“Against route violation, we have marked areas like Limca Junction, Mosefejo, Farms Embassy, French Language Village and Badagry Roundabout; we will monitor these areas 24 hours during the celebration.
“We are also collaborating with the French Language Village management so that we can construct Zebra crossing because of the children and students crossing the expressway.
“Our personnel are also along the Seme -Badagry expressway because of potholes on the highway.
“Our personnel and special marshals are stationed at the popular Badagry Roundabout to ensure smooth vehicular movement during the celebration,” he said.
Sanni stated that the command has been enlightening the public on the need to ensure accident-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The unit commander added that the command would also partner para-military agencies like the police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, to ensure that things go well during the holidays.
He urged motorists plying the Badagry highway to obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid road traffic incidents during the period.
Sanni also advised motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any trip during the festival. (NAN)
