Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is scheduled to visit Benue State on Tuesday as part of activities under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), where she will engage women, inaugurate key infrastructure projects, and commission a community Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre.

The visit forms part of the nationwide programme designed to empower women, strengthen families, and improve the welfare of vulnerable groups across the country.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Mr. Tersoo Kula.

According to the statement, Mrs. Tinubu, who also serves as the National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, will interact with women and beneficiaries of the programme in Benue State as part of efforts to expand its reach and impact at the grassroots level.

Governor Alia described the visit as a strong demonstration of cooperation between the Federal Government and the Benue State Government in promoting the welfare and development of citizens, especially women, children, and families.

One of the major highlights of the visit will be the commissioning of 10 newly completed intra-city roads in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The roads form part of more than 45 road projects reportedly executed by the Alia administration and are expected to enhance transportation, improve access within the city, stimulate economic activities, and improve the overall quality of life of residents.

The road projects cover approximately 11.5 kilometres and include the Ishaya Bakut Road Dual Carriageway and its three connecting spurs, Abu King Shuluwa Road, Mama Mbateren Alia Street, Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road, Sir James Iorpuu Street, Tyagher Gbaa Street, and Jato-Aka Road.

The First Lady is also expected to travel to Ihugh, where she will officially inaugurate and hand over a community ICT centre aimed at promoting digital literacy, technological development, and access to information for residents.

The ICT facility is expected to provide educational and economic opportunities for young people and members of the host community, while supporting broader efforts to bridge the digital divide.

Speaking ahead of the visit, the Benue State Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs. Scholastica Bensor, expressed optimism about the programme and said preparations had been completed to ensure a successful outing.

She noted that women across the state were eager to receive the First Lady and participate in the activities planned for the visit.

Bensor called on residents, community leaders, women’s groups, and other stakeholders to turn out in large numbers to welcome Mrs. Tinubu and support the objectives of the initiative.

According to her, the visit will further reinforce ongoing efforts to empower women, promote social inclusion, and drive sustainable development in Benue State.

The Renewed Hope Initiative has continued to implement programmes targeted at improving the livelihoods of women, youths, and vulnerable populations across Nigeria through empowerment schemes, educational support, healthcare interventions, and community development projects.
