Emberga Emerges Benue Assembly Speaker After Dajo’s Resignation

Benue State House of Assembly yesterday during an emergency plenary session presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Lami Danladi elected, Honourable Berger Alfred, representing Makurdi South State Constituency as new Speaker barely  one hour after the immediate past Speaker, Aondona Dajo tendered his resignation.

Dajo, in his resignation letter stated that he resigned his position in good faith and in the best interest of the state, expressing appreciation to his dear colleagues for the opportunity they gave him to be the first among equals.

He pledged to remain committed to his duties as a legislator and representative of his people of Gboko West state constituency.

 Some Benue people who spoke with AljazirahNigeria, expressed worry why the Honourable who was suspended by the House for attempting to cause chaos will emerge as Speaker.

It could be recalled that Governor Alia in a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula recently denied allegations of plotting to remove the Speaker.
