Coalition: Atiku Should not be Considered to Contest 2027 Presidency – Kachikwu

By MBACHU GODWIN, Abuja

Former Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dumebi Kachikwu has fired back at the former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, describing his inordinate ambition to contest the 2027 election as the reason for the coalition.

He, therefore charged the coalition not to give the Party’s platform to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to contest for the 2027 presidency.

Kachikwu in a press conference in Abuja thursday insisted that Atiku and other members of the coalition are not members of the party and should not be encouraged to hijack the party. .

He accused the former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of showing desire that he doesn’t believe in any section of the country producing the next president other than himself, noting that Atiku’s inordinate ambition was the driving force of the coalition.

“Former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has shown desire that he doesn’t believe in any other section of the country producing the next president except himself. Atiku almost truncated Chief Obasanjo’s government, he is using charlatans to deceive Obi for him to run as vice presidential candidate.

I challenge Atiku to say that presidency belongs to the South. I will reiterate, ADC is not for sale. As a member of the party, I have a stake in the party and will not allow strangers to hijack the party.

“Coalition are not members of the ADC, they came to cause uphills in the party.”

He criticized Atiku for not speaking up against the killings of innocent Nigerians by Fulani herders, but was quick to criticize the present administration.

“8 years of Buhari, how many statements did Atiku make to challenge Buhari for 8 years, if you didn’t speak against Buhari, how dare you challenge the southern president. Challenge them on the ideas of the economy”

Kachikwu who revealed that he will pursue the matter in Court to seek declaration that they are not members of the ADC, insisted that the party has no chairman, following the vacuum created by Ralph Nwosu.

“We Pursue the matter in Court to seek declaration that they are not members of the party. ADC, has no Chairman as the lacuna created by Ralph Nwosu exist, we are waiting for INEC to give us directives on our convention.”
