Yobe State government has clarified that the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Buni Yadi remains fully operational, dispelling concerns over its status, following the establishment of a new Special Forces School in Doma, Nasarawa State.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Yobe State governor, Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam  (rtd), said the Buni Yadi facility had been redesignated as the Nigerian Army Acclimatisation Centre, adding that it retains its vital function of conducting pre-deployment training and acclimatisation for troops inducted into the North East Theatre of Operations.

Abdulsalam emphasised that while the Nigerian Army’s new Special Forces Command Headquarters in Doma necessitated a co-located training school, the Buni Yadi facility continues to serve as a strategic hub for preparing troops engaged in counterinsurgency operations.

“The school in Buni Yadi is not relocating, it remains fully active and integral to military operations in the North East,” he affirmed.

He also commended Yobe residents for their steadfast support for the Nigerian Army and their commitment to regional security.

The statement reassured the public that Buni Yadi maintains its critical role in national security, reinforcing Yobe State’s position as a key player in counterterrorism efforts.
