Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement to sign promising Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from Swedish club AIK Stockholm on a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2031.
The English club confirmed the transfer in an official statement on Saturday, noting that the move remains subject to standard regulatory and registration approvals and will be completed when the transfer window officially reopens. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Yohanna, who will celebrate his 19th birthday later this month, arrives at Brighton after enjoying a breakthrough campaign in Sweden, where he has emerged as one of the most highly rated young talents in European football.
His performances for AIK Stockholm this season attracted attention from several clubs across Europe, but Brighton moved quickly to secure the services of the Nigerian youngster as part of their continued strategy of investing in emerging talent.
Speaking on the acquisition, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler expressed excitement about working with the young winger and highlighted the qualities that convinced the club to pursue the transfer.
“I’m looking forward to working with Zadok. Having seen his games and his attributes, he is a player that can impact games in the final third.
“He’s still young, and will need time to adapt to the club and Premier League, but he’s an exciting player to watch and he brings the kind of creativity we know our fans will enjoy.
“He’s dynamic, has pace and likes to take players on. His attributes and ability will be a real addition to our attacking options,” Hurzeler said.
Yohanna’s football journey began at the Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria, where he developed his skills before making the move to Europe in 2025.
After joining AIK Stockholm, the winger quickly adapted to the demands of European football and established himself as an important member of the first team.
His impressive performances this season have seen him feature in 18 matches across league and cup competitions, contributing five goals and four assists. His ability to beat defenders, create chances, and influence matches in attacking areas has made him one of the standout young players in Sweden’s top flight.
The move represents another significant milestone in Yohanna’s rapidly developing career and provides him with an opportunity to test himself in the highly competitive environment of the Premier League.
Brighton, renowned for identifying and developing young talent, will hope the Nigerian winger can continue his progression and eventually become an important figure in the club’s attacking setup.
