Benue Govt Launches Eco-City Estate Project To Bridge Housing Deficit

Benue State Government has commenced the construction of 1080 housing units, known as the Eco-City Estate, in a bid to reduce the state’s housing deficit.

The project, located at the former Benue Brewery Limited,BBL, Quarters in Makurdi, is being executed by the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited, BIPC.

The Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, who announced the commencement during a flag – off yesterday in Makurdi, highlighted the urgent need for sustainable and affordable housing in Benue State.

He stated that the project will bridge the housing deficit and high cost of accommodation in the state.

According to Dr. Asemakaha, the project will be implemented in phases, starting with 32 units, followed by 48 units, and eventually 1000 housing units on a 30-hectare land. 

He assured that the project will be completed within 1 year, with the first phase expected to be completed within 6 months and the second phase within 24 months.

Governor Alia represented at the flag- off by his Deputy Dr, Sam Ode, expressed optimism that the Eco-City project which aligns with the administration’s vision will transform the state into a modern city. 

The Benue Governor encouraged investors, especially Benue citizens, to subscribe to the smart estate, which will conform to modern trends in housing.

 The Governor who expressed hope that Benue indigenes will benefit from the project, encouraged them to take part in the gains of the government.

He also called on investors to take advantage of the projects which he noted are in two hectares of land within the estate with the other two hectares in a different location.
