Bauchi Gov Sacks Health Commissioner, Appoints 3 Others

Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed removed the Commissioner for Health, Dr Adamu Sambo, shortly after presiding over the State Executive Council meeting yesterday.

The sacked commissioner was noticeably absent at the meeting.

Meanwhile, Governor Mohammed noted that the commissioner was dropped not for non-performance, but as part of measures to reposition his administration for greater heights.

The governor equally announced that the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs would remain under the control of a permanent secretary, in view of the recent Supreme Court verdict on local government autonomy.

Three commissioners were sworn in before the commencement of the executive council meeting at the council chambers of the Government House, Bauchi. 

The new commissioners are Zainab Baban Takko for the Ministry of Women Affairs; Dr Sani Mohammad Danbam for Health, and Engr Mohammad Abdulkadir for Commerce and Industry. 

The governor also swore in Dr Ahmad Abdulrahman, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, to serve as his chief security adviser.

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn in commissioners, Babantakko commended Governor Mohammed for the confidence reposed in their capacity to serve the state by giving them appointments.

She equally assured the governor of their commitment in idea formulation and sustainable direction in moving Bauchi State to greater heights.
