Spanish champions Barcelona have submitted an official bid to Borussia Dortmund for German winger Karim Adeyemi as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
The development was reported by transfer journalists Fabrizio Romano and Gerard Romero, who said negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing. Adeyemi has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Barcelona and informed Borussia Dortmund that the Catalan club is his preferred destination this summer.
According to Romano, the 24-year-old is under contract with Dortmund until June 2027 but is not planning to sign a contract extension.
He stated that Barcelona have already submitted their offer and are now awaiting Dortmund’s response as discussions continue.
The move comes shortly after Barcelona completed the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, suggesting that manager Hansi Flick remains keen to strengthen his attacking options before the new campaign.
Adeyemi, who missed Germany’s World Cup squad because of injury, has remained a regular member of the national team in recent years.
Last season, he scored 10 goals and provided several assists for Borussia Dortmund, earning recognition as one of the fastest attacking players in European football.
Barcelona’s pursuit of Adeyemi has also fueled speculation about the future of Brazilian winger Raphinha.
Reports suggest Raphinha’s World Cup campaign has ended, allowing him to consider a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia, with Adeyemi’s proposed arrival raising further questions about Barcelona’s plans for the Brazilian forward.
Borussia Dortmund have yet to issue an official response to Barcelona’s bid as negotiations continue between both clubs.
