Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar appeared before the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential screening panel on today, pledging to tackle insecurity across the country.
A statement issued after the exercise by Mr Phrank Shaibu, Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, described the session as far more than a routine party procedure.
According to the statement, the exercise provided the former vice-president with an opportunity to present practical solutions aimed at rescuing Nigeria from economic stagnation and pressing security challenges.
The statement noted that Atiku expressed deep concern over mass unemployment, institutional decline, and persistent insecurity, which he said had left citizens vulnerable to kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks.
He warned that Nigeria could not afford to continue on its current trajectory, where hardship remains widespread, businesses are collapsing, and investor confidence is dwindling due to unpredictable economic policies.
Outlining his economic blueprint, Atiku stated that his focus would be on job creation, private sector expansion, fiscal discipline, stable macroeconomic management, and attracting sustainable investment into the country.
On national security, he explained that his agenda would prioritise intelligence-driven operations, enhanced inter-agency collaboration, decentralised security structures, and decisive action against criminal activities nationwide.
“At this defining moment in our national life, Nigeria does not need experiments. It needs tested leadership and courage to make necessary national decisions,” he said.
The presidential aspirant reaffirmed his commitment to building a secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria, where citizens can live peacefully and pursue opportunities with dignity and confidence.
