Youths’ Commissioners from states governed by the All Progressives Congress ,APC, have reiterated their collective resolve to drive national development through youths-led initiatives.
This followed the conclusion of a two-day Progressive Governors’ Forum ,PGF, Quarterly Meeting held in Kaduna State.
This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the meeting which took place from August 7 to 8.
It was hosted by the Kaduna State Government and formally declared open by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, on behalf of Gov. Uba Sani.
Bringing together Commissioners for Youths from APC controlled states, the gathering focused on aligning youths-focused policies with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the communique, discussions centered on strengthening systems, partnerships, and platforms to empower young Nigerians as central agents of transformation and inclusive growth.
The meeting also pledged loyalty to the leadership of the Progressive Governors, led by the Chairman of PGF and Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma.
They further committed to promoting transparent, accountable, and performance-driven youths governance across their respective states.
The Commissioners lauded ongoing investments by APC Governors’ in youths development, particularly in areas such as digital infrastructure, entrepreneurship, vocational training, creative industries, and sports.
They also commended proactive efforts in tackling drug abuse, youths restiveness, and unemployment, describing these interventions as critical to peace and national progress.
Among key resolutions adopted was the introduction of a PGF Unified Inter-State Youth Development Framework, aimed at fostering policy alignment and cross-state collaboration.
The Commissioners also emphasised the need to integrate digital skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship into state-level youth programmes, ensuring that young people are equipped for the demands of a dynamic global economy.
During the meeting, the forum welcomed the newly appointed Kaduna State Commissioner for Youths Development, Gloria Ibrahim, and expressed appreciation to Sani for hosting the engagement.
The PGF Secretariat, under the leadership of Director-General Folorunso Aluko, was also commended for its effective coordination and sustained commitment to youth-focused development.
The communiqué was jointly signed by commissioners from Jigawa, Imo, Cross River, Yobe, Gombe, Ebonyi, Delta, Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kwara, and Katsina States, alongside the PGF leadership.
