The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, on Wednesday, received Certificate of Return from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

Recall that Maikalangu emerged victorious in the APC primaries for the AMAC Chairmanship election held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with 51 votes.

Receiving the Certificate of Return at the APC headquarters on Wednesday, Maikalangu assured APC members that the party will emerge victorious in the election next year.

He said that, despite not being time for campaign, his reelection will tantamount to consolidating on the dividends of democracy he has been delivering to AMAC residents since his election in 2022.

He urged party faithful to unite for a better AMAC, saying there is no need for division in the party.

He said: “The Certificate of Return has assured me that I am the APC candidate for AMAC Chairmanship election come 2026. At the APC, we are one family. I urge my supporters to continue supporting the APC. I urge others who contested against me to join hands with me to move AMAC forward.

“As you can see, everyone here is happy. I guess it’s time for us to go into action. Almost all the other contestants are my friends, my brothers. I’ve seen them in person and we are one family and I’ve asked them to join me. Whatever is there, we are all together. So I guess we are going to work together.

Speaking with journalists, former NANS National President and member of the Civil Society Movement of Nigeria, Comrade Prince Miaphen, said that Maikalangu is a detribalised Nigerian whose works in AMAC will speak for him.

On his part, a supporter of Maikalangu, Kabir D. Mokana, said Maikalangu deserves reelection as he has delivered dividends of democracy to AMAC residents, including road construction, rural electrification, among others.
