Nigerian-American actress and model Adunni Ade has opened up about a closely guarded chapter of her life, revealing that she quietly welcomed a daughter more than two years ago and intentionally kept the news away from the public.
The actress made the revelation in a heartfelt message shared on Instagram to mark her birthday, introducing her daughter, Baby Sal, and explaining why she chose to keep the child’s existence private for years.
According to Adunni, the journey into motherhood was deeply personal and filled with experiences that shaped her in ways many people never saw. She explained that while fans and followers were familiar with her public persona, she was navigating a significant life chapter behind the scenes.
Reflecting on the experience, the actress disclosed that the path was not without its difficulties, describing it as a period marked by personal struggles, resilience, and emotional growth.
“Today, on my birthday, I’m finally sharing what we’ve protected for over two years,” she wrote.
“This wasn’t an easy journey. It came with silent battles, moments that tested me, and a strength I had to grow into. While the world saw one version of me, I was living something much deeper, much more personal.”
Adunni explained that the decision to keep her daughter away from public attention was deliberate and rooted in a desire to preserve her peace of mind. According to her, not every joyful moment needs to be publicly documented, and she preferred to enjoy the blessing of motherhood without external pressure or scrutiny.
“We chose privacy. Not because we owed anyone secrecy but because peace is priceless, and not everything good needs an audience. We wanted to enjoy our blessing,” she stated.
The actress also addressed assumptions that often accompany stories involving single mothers. She emphasized that people should avoid jumping to conclusions or attaching controversy to situations they know little about.
According to her, her daughter’s arrival was a blessing that came peacefully and intentionally, without any of the drama or scandal that social media users often speculate about.
“Not every single mother fits your assumptions. Not every story is a scandal. Not every blessing comes with drama attached. God gave me mine. Fully. Peacefully. Intentionally,” she said.
Describing Baby Sal as a treasured gift and an answered prayer, Adunni expressed gratitude for what she called a beautiful story written by God in His own perfect timing.
“Our baby girl, our answered prayer, is my evidence that God still writes beautiful stories in His own time,” she added.
The actress further reflected on the contrast between her public image and her private reality, noting that many aspects of her life remain unknown to the public despite her celebrity status.
She suggested that while people may feel familiar with the version of her they see online, her personal life contains experiences and dimensions that are intentionally kept away from public consumption.
“Adunni Ade online is one thing. Adunni Adewale at home is something you may never fully understand, and that’s okay,” she wrote.
In a direct response to potential rumours and speculation, Adunni included a postscript in which she firmly denied any suggestion that her daughter’s birth disrupted an existing relationship or family.
She made it clear that no home was broken and no family was negatively affected by the circumstances surrounding the arrival of Baby Sal.
“No single home is or was broken in the making of our Baby Sal,” she wrote, adding, “It’s always love.”
Following the announcement, fans, friends, and colleagues flooded her social media pages with congratulatory messages, celebrating the actress and applauding her decision to protect her private life. Many also praised her for maintaining her peace while embracing motherhood away from the spotlight.
The revelation has since generated widespread reactions online, with many describing her story as a reminder that public figures are entitled to personal boundaries and private moments despite living much of their lives in the public eye.
